After working in a local yarn shop and being inspired by my crochet loving auntie, I decided to experiment with dyeing my own yarn and Bobble and Badger is the end result. I love draw inspiration from colours in nature and also from my favourite films and TV.

Yarns from happy sheeps! I do everything I can to maximise the quality and provenance of the wool. Best farming practise to produce the very best wool possible, partnerships with excellent Mills and Dyers whose commitment to excellence and environmental protection matches my own.

Claire, from Cookston Crafts has been producing luxury hand dyed yarn from her studio in Aberdeenshire since 2017. Claire's enthusiasm for her craft and drive for perfection, makes for truly beautiful yarn. Yarn enthusiasts from all over the world create with Cookston Crafts yarn, often inspired by the Scottish landscape.

Edelweiss Fibres produces small batch hand dyed yarns on luxurious bases in colourways inspired by florals and Scotland’s natural beauty. We specialise in tonal and variegated colourways, but offer a sprinkling of speckled colourways as well. Our yarns are accompanied by a range of independent publications, and a curated selection of notions.

Ethel and Joan is a handmade haberdashery and accessory business. Everything I sell is made by hand from the mould all the way to the finished product by me, Louise the owner and maker. I offer a range of colourful vintage inspired products ranging from buttons to magnetic pin tidies.

Flora Fibres produces a range of naturally dyed, plant based yarns and spinning fibres. These are ideal for vegans, those with a wool allergy, and anyone wanting to try something new!

Based in Dundee, Helen of Giddy Yarns creates colourful hand-dyed yarns, inspired by literature. You’ll find book themed collections including her Middle Earth, Stephen King and Beatrix Potter collections. You’ll also find fun gobstopper balls of hand-dyed self-striping sock yarn and plenty of mini skeins for those scrappy projects.

Erin of HennyPennyMakes believes colour is the key to happiness and so it's at the heart of everything she does. Using her colour therapy training, she creates fun and inspiring yarn packs to help you improve your wellbeing through creativity and only recommends patterns that she has truly enjoyed herself.

Iolair Yarn is a small independent hand-dying business, based in East Lothian. Former geoscientist, Solveigh, formulates her own dye recipes to reproduce the colours of Scotland’s magnificent landscapes, using luxurious natural non-superwash fibre blends. She also designs her own patterns that reflect her connection and passion for nature.

Jenerates by Jen Hogg, unique tool and notions for everyday knitting, crochet and sewing. Jen's tools are often described as "genius" and loved around the world for their practicality. She'll also have a range of stitch markers made especially for GSOY.

The Journal of Scottish Yarns is a bi-annual print and digital magazine all about promoting Scottish yarn past, present and future. Every issue includes in depth articles about people, places, history and businesses involved in Scottish yarn and textiles, as well as a range of specially commissioned craft projects inspired by Scotland and using Scottish materials (always knitting and crochet, plus weaving, embroidery, and crewel work – so far!)

We lovingly tend a small flock of pedigree Shetland sheep and these undyed and hand-dyed shades have been spun in a range of weights to suit your project. We believe in tending carefully to our land and our flock, as happy sheep make for the best wool!

Moorit is an independent crochet magazine based in Scotland and run by Alyson Chu. Launched in 2021, it was imagined as an antidote to the dearth of print publications made especially for crocheters. Focussing on wearable, modern garments and accessories made in natural fibres, Moorit is a high-end craft magazine with true indie spirit.⁣

Mothy and the Squid is an artisan indie dyer specialising in ethically sourced premium yarns. Each skein is hand dyed in small batches and inspired by Nature. We focus on unusual and beautiful species including sea life, flowering plants and colourful insects.

Nervus Fibre is a small hand dyed yarn business based in Glasgow. I take a lot of inspiration from the natural world and also the landscapes and characters in the books I read. I love soft, quiet colourways and beautifully tactile yarns to keep anxious fingers busy.

Originally from Scotland, Fiona of Quack Yarn every skein by hand in a small garage studio at home in York. Whether you love fun brights, something dark and glowy, or the perfect neutral to make the rest of your colours pop, Quack Yarn has something for every project.

Brilliantly vivid colourways and gorgeous yarns hand-dyed in Edinburgh. Rainbow Heirloom specialises in bright and fun semi-solids, full of depth and complexity. Perfect for knitting and crochet projects of all sizes! You can also find a selection of kits, with everything you need to create modern heirloom pieces.

Helen of Ripples Crafts Hand Dyed Yarns is known for her vibrant, intense colours, and for her selection of ethically sourced yarns including lace, 4ply, DK and Aran. Her colour palette ranges from semi solid shades to pleasingly variegated colourways. Helen is celebrating 15 years of colourful dyeing in 2023.

Sealy MacWheely is Kirkintilloch's Local Yarn and Fibre Shop stocking a variety of hand dyed yarns and fibres created on site by owner Katie. In addition you can also find a wide selection of knitting accessories including ChiaoGoo and KnitPro plus spinning and weaving equipment by both Ashford and Kromski.

We are a small family run spinning mill based in the beautiful Scottish Borders. Many of our yarns combine alpaca with other luxury fibres, such as silk and rose fibre; but we also love British wools, including Cheviot from the Southern Upland hills, Blue-faced Leicester from the Lammermuirs, and Shetland.

The Little Grey Girl creates high quality handmade products for the modern crafter.
Featuring project bags in modern and contemporary fabrics, which come in a range of styles, shapes and sizes suitable for all projects. TLGG has expanded into hand-dyed yarns, specialising in irresistible self-stripe yarns, bold semi-solids and speckles as well as minis skeins, that just beg to be cast on straight away!

The Lonely Knitter dyes nerdy themed yarn and makes Crafter’s Balm, an all natural hand balm, from her home in the most easterly town in England.

The Woolchemist creates bright and lively, exciting colourways on the highest quality extra fine merino wool and wool blend yarn bases, inspired by books and visual arts and the colours of her chosen home Scotland, for those who wish to express themselves through their creations.
