The Glasgow School Of Yarn

The Glasgow School of Yarn began life as a birthday celebration for The Yarn Cake, back in 2011!

The Yarn Cake is a unique yarn shop and café, serving Glasgow's fibre crafts community for over 13 years. It first opened its doors in 2010, making it Scotland's first dedicated knitting café. Located in the vibrant west end of Glasgow, it quickly became a beloved spot for knitters of all skill levels.

In 2023, The Yarn Cake relocated to bigger and better premises on Crow Road, allowing them to expand their offerings and accommodate more customers. This move was met with much support and excitement from the local fibre crafts community, who were eager to explore the new space and browse through an even wider selection of yarns.

The Yarn Cake's dedication to quality and exceptional service has not gone unnoticed. Since 2013, the shop has been nominated in the prestigious British Knitting Awards every year. Their consistent excellence has led them to win the coveted "Best Independent Yarn Shop - Scotland" category three times, a testament to their commitment to providing the best knitting materials and resources to their customers.

The Yarn Cake focusses on British Yarns and natural fibres and stocks a good selection of needles, notion, kits, books and Ashford spinning supplies; coupled with a selection o home baking, teas, coffees and regular events to bring together Glasgow’s knitting and crafting community.
